HILDEGARD Residency Workshop with Princeton University Students

Sep 11, 2019

Ethan, Dave, and I are on New Jersey transit heading back to the airport after an AMAZING 10-day residency workshopping our new musical with Princeton University students. Each student made thoughtful, often groundbreaking contributions to the show, and we learned SO MUCH about this beast of a musical.

Last night we concluded the residency with a sold out concert of songs from the show. I was especially honored to have my mentors Jill Dolan and Stacy Wolf in the audience and to have Stacy lead a talk back after the performance.

I’m incredibly grateful to Jane Cox and to the entire Lewis Center for the Arts for making this dream come true. And I am overwhelmed with gratitude to the wonderful students who spent the end of their summer with us: Leila Abou-Jaoude, Paige Allen, Emma Ferrandino, Glenna Galarion, Mariana Corichi Gomez, Edward Horan, Grace Huegel, Minjae Kim, Akash Kushwaha, Billie Runions, Allison Spann and Maddie Wu. Special thanks to dramaturg Shelly Horwitz who came down from New York and gave us some of the best advice we’ve heard in our 18-month development process.

Our final night at Princeton with wonderful collaborators who shared a rehearsal room and many generous thoughts during our 10-day residency
